Vibe Check: hear someone before you see them

Vibe Check is a voice call with someone new inside the JustThen dating app. You each see the other's first name before the call, but photos and other details stay hidden until you choose to share them. If the conversation clicks and you both send a Vibe, you match and can keep talking.

It is one of several optional ways to get to know people on JustThen, alongside ordinary messages, voice notes and love letters. Nobody has to use it, and JustThen is not a voice-only app.

How a Vibe Check works

1. Start searching. Open Vibe Check and the app looks for someone to talk to. You can cancel the search at any time.
2. See a first name, then decide. Before the call you see who wants to talk by first name only, and you can accept, skip or block.
3. Talk. It is voice only, with no video and no photos. During the call, either of you can choose to reveal profile details one at a time, such as your profession, location, education, diet or what you are looking for.
4. Send a Vibe if you felt it. If the other person sends one back, it's a match. You can then see their profile and carry on chatting in the app.
5. Find it again later. Your recent calls appear in a call list, so a good conversation is not lost if you were not ready to decide.

What the other person can see

• Your first name, before the call starts.
• Only the details you choose to reveal. Photos and the rest of your profile stay hidden until you share them.
• Not your phone number. The call runs inside the app, so neither of you has to give out a number.

How Vibe Check stays safe

• Verified people. Vibe Check is open to verified members. Verification reduces risk; it does not remove it.
• You are in control. Skip anyone before the call, end a call at any moment, and block someone so you are never matched with them again.
• Report in the call. You can report inappropriate behaviour from the call screen. Harassment leads to a permanent ban from Vibe Check.

Why talk before photos?

A profile photo invites a snap judgement in a second. A voice carries humour, warmth and how someone listens, which are hard to read from pictures. Hearing someone first lets attraction build on conversation, and photos come later, when you both want them. Is Vibe Check anonymous?

Partly. You each see the other's first name before the call, but your photos, the rest of your profile and your phone number stay hidden. You decide what else to reveal, one detail at a time.

Is Vibe Check a video call?

No. Vibe Check is voice only. There is no video and no photos during the call.

What happens if we both send a Vibe?

It's a match. You can see each other's profile and carry on chatting in the app, just like any other JustThen match.

Can I use Vibe Check to make friends?

Yes. Vibe Check is for dating, friendship or just someone to talk to.

Is Vibe Check free?

Yes, Vibe Check is free to use. Free accounts have a daily number of Vibe requests and see their most recent calls; Premium unlocks more.

What if someone is rude on a call?

End the call, then block or report them. Blocked people are never matched with you again, and harassment leads to a permanent ban.

Do I have to use voice on JustThen?

No. Vibe Check and voice notes are optional. You can match and talk on JustThen with ordinary messages only.
